Tried the 'move for a fresh start' thing at 34, ended up missing my old parking spot
Moved to Portland from a small town in Ohio about 2 years ago. Thought the city would fix my boredom and give me more to do. Instead I pay $1,450 for a studio that's smaller than my old garage and I literally cried last week because I couldn't find street parking after a 12 hour shift. The thing is, I romanticized the coffee shops and the food carts, but nobody tells you about the 4am train noise or that your neighbors will have loud arguments through the walls. Learned that a fresh start doesn't fix what's inside you, it just gives you new problems. Has anyone else moved somewhere big and realized they just wanted to feel different, not actually live different?
