Is it really nostalgia if the phone never actually worked well?

Everyone raves about the Nokia 3310 but I remember dropping calls in my buddy's basement back in 2003, no service for blocks around his place in Toledo. We hype the indestructible shell but forget the actual reception was spotty. Does the memory of the look beat the reality of the function for you too?
