My grandpa's $2 yard sale advice fixed my dead phone collection

I used to keep about 14 old cell phones in a drawer, all with dead batteries and no chargers. Last summer at a yard sale in Akron, this old guy saw me eyeing a Motorola Razr and said, 'Son, every one of those needs the same trick, a new battery and a 20 minute charge cycle.' I went home, ordered two batteries for $12 total, and now my Nokia 3310 and my LG Chocolate both boot up fine. Anyone else got a weird tip that revived a bricked retro phone?
