Warning: my $80 miniDisc player from a pawn shop in Tacoma was the best and worst buy of 2003
I grabbed it used in 2003 for 80 bucks and it got me through two years of bus rides with zero skips, then the laser died and the repair shop quoted me $140 to fix a player worth half that. I still have the discs in a shoebox and the player itself on a shelf, dead but undefeated. Did anyone else get burned by repair costs on a gadget you loved way more than the math made sense?
