New guy on the floor told me my feeds were wrong, he ran it his way for 3 days
He dropped the spindle speed by 800 rpm and chip load by half on the same 6061 job I've run for 2 years, and every part came out with chatter marks that took an extra hour to deburr, so why would you trust a 3D printer kid over a guy with 12,000 cycles on that machine?
12000 cycles is the kind of data that actually means something, that number alone should've shut down any debate about who knows that machine. Dropping feeds that hard on 6061 just makes the tool rub instead of cut, so yeah, you get that ugly chatter and a longer cleanup. Kid probably watched a YouTube video about "safe" speeds instead of reading the wear pattern on your inserts, and that's the real problem right there.
