Thought I'd learn Python by doing free code camp on my phone during lunch breaks, ended up accidentally writing a script that texts my sister every day
So about a year ago I started messing around with Python during my 30 minute lunch at the warehouse where I work, just on my phone. I figured I'd do those little exercises where you print stuff and learn loops. Around week three I got to the part about reading files and sending emails, and I thought it'd be funny to make a script that pulled a random line from a text file I made of dumb jokes. I set it up wrong somehow, like the loop kept running past what I thought, and my sister in Tampa got a text every single morning at 6am for 11 days before she called me asking what was wrong with me. I felt bad but also kind of impressed I made something that actually worked, even if it worked too much. What I learned is that the little lessons don't warn you about testing stuff before pointing it at real people, and I had to read the docs on how to make it stop. Has anyone else made a beginner script that did way more than you meant it to?
