Why does nobody talk about how good old arcade cabinets sound?

Yeah that phrase "audio punch" really nails it. The old arcade cabinets had those giant speakers in a wooden box that just resonated differently. I remember playing Street Fighter II on a real cabinet and the "K.O." sound would literally vibrate through the floor. Modern ports sound too clean and compressed. They lose that gritty warmth like the original speakers were barely hanging on but in a good way. Plus the CRT monitor had its own hum that mixed with the game audio. You just don't get that whole experience from a TV or computer speaker setup no matter how good it is.

Met a guy at a truck stop who claimed he was from another planet

the "time is loops not lines" thing is honestly the weirdest part. like thats super specific, not just generic alien talk. was he like dead serious or did he have that "im messing with you" vibe? i feel like someone who actually believed that would have more details about how the loops work or something, not just drop one cryptic line. did he say anything else about it or just leave you hanging with that?

The week our API went down and I almost quit ops

Take a breath before you blow this out of proportion. One bad week doesn't mean your whole ops setup is broken, it means you had a rough patch. Config mistakes happen and you fixed it, so calling it a "serious gap" feels dramatic for something you caught and patched quickly.

Visited a bakery in Portland that charged $9 for a croissant

Does it really matter that much though? Like, if the croissant tastes good, who cares if it came out of a frozen box? People get so worked up over the whole "house made" thing when half the time you can't even tell the difference. A frozen croissant that's baked fresh still beats a stale gas station one any day. Spending time interrogating baristas over sourcing just sounds exhausting. Let people enjoy their pastry without making it a whole moral crusade.

VS Code vs Sublime Text for a complete newbie - one is way better

Yeah but what happens when your extensions stop working after an update? I had three formatters break at once and spent an hour messing with settings. Was there a tipping point where you felt like the setup time in VS Code stopped being worth it compared to just dealing with Sublime's quirks?
