TIL my mentor's "tiny" bug report led to a 40-minute lecture on semicolons
Back in 2019, I showed my first real script to a senior dev at a small shop in Dayton. He stared at one line for a full minute, then said, "You're missing a semicolon here, and that's why your loop ate itself." I laughed it off because the script ran fine on my machine, but he sat me down and walked through every semicolon in a 200-line file. For 40 minutes he explained how a single missing one can turn an if statement into a whole silent failure. I never forgot that weird mix of embarrassment and relief, and now I check my semicolons before I even run anything. Has anyone else had a tiny mistake turn into a huge lesson from a patient coworker?

Hang onto that guy, most seniors just fix it silently and move on, never teaching you why it broke.
