TIL naming my variables like a 5 year old fixed my bug problem
I used to name stuff things like 'tempData' and 'val2' and would lose track of what was what in my Python scripts. So I started naming them real things like 'userAge' and 'totalScore' and last Tuesday I spotted a mistake in about 10 seconds that used to eat 20 minutes. Does anyone else name variables weirdly on purpose, or am I the only one doing this?
I did the opposite once and named everything after food. spent three hours looking for where "burrito" got set to zero. zero nutrition in that bug hunt.
