Finally dialed in my pour over after 11 wasted bags of beans
Took me about 3 weeks of frustration until I realized my kettle temp was dropping 15 degrees between boils and pour. Fixed the rinse timing, and the last cup tasted like actual fruit instead of ash, anyone else had a stupid simple fix like this?
Tossed a solid 30 bucks worth of beans before I caught mine. Turned out my grinder was set way too coarse for anything past a French press, so I was getting this hollow, sour cup no matter what I did with the water. Once I dropped the grind size and stopped obsessing over the bloom, everything clicked. Still don't trust my kettle's temp readout, I always check it with a cheap thermometer now. That rinse timing thing you fixed, I swear that's the sneakiest variable of them all. What beans were you using when it finally came together?
