My French press exploded on a first date at a hipster cafe

I was at this tiny spot in Austin called Brew & Grind trying to impress someone. Went to press down the plunger and the glass carafe just shattered, sending coffee grounds and hot liquid all over the table and her white dress. The barista ran over with towels and comped our drinks, but she excused herself to the bathroom for 20 minutes. Has anyone else had a coffee maker fail at the worst possible moment?

33rd and Valencia, this cute barista named Sarah wore a necklace with a tiny coffee bean on it. I asked her if she got that at a coffee shop and she laughed. We talked for like 20 minutes after my shift, I even taught her how to pour a proper rosetta. Still got her number though, three years later and we’re still friends.

Haha @cole_flores44 that "before the coffee grounds did" part got me. My buddy actually tried this smooth move at a coffee shop once and the barista just stared at him like he was speaking a different language. He just grabbed his latte and walked away real fast.
