PSA: My $70 hand grinder turned out to be a $70 lesson
I keep going back and forth on whether to blame the grinder or my own cheapness, but after watching a buddy's $150 burr set pull way cleaner shots from the same beans at a Sunday meetup in Boise, I'm starting to think the upgrade is real and I want to hear from folks who went the other way.
Man, that meetup comparison is the real test, because side by side is when you actually taste the gap. What gets me is the burr set does the heavy lifting, so the jump from a cheap grinder to a decent one is way bigger than going from decent to fancy, and most folks upgrade twice before they figure that out. If the $150 set already pulled cleaner shots from your same beans, that tells you the grinder was the weak link, not your cheapness.
