Vent: The single worst morning I ever had dialing in espresso
Last Tuesday I went through a whole bag of beans trying to get a 25 second shot and every pull was either a gusher or choked the machine. The pressure gauge read 9 bars the whole time, so it must have been my grind consistency. Anyone else have a day where nothing worked no matter what you tweaked?

Blame your burrs instead of admitting you might just suck at dialing in.

You mentioned the pressure gauge was steady at 9 bars the whole time, but did you check if your actual brew water temp was drifting? I've chased grind settings for hours only to find out my machine's PID was lying to me and the water was way hotter than it thought. What kind of grinder are you using, and have you tested its burr alignment lately?
