Heard a guy at a dive shop say a 50 cent o-ring cost him a 3 day job
Stopped by the shop in Panama City Beach last week. Two divers were talking about a surface interval leak that turned into a full blown sat dive cancel. Apparently the o-ring on his gas block was dry and cracked. He skipped the 10 minute check because he was in a hurry. Job was $4,800 for three days. He lost it over a part that costs less than a soda. I always carry a spare set in my dry bag now, but honestly I've been guilty of skipping the visual check when the weather window is tight. Has anyone else had a tiny cheap part shut down a whole operation? What do you keep in your spares kit that saved you once?

God, I felt that one in my gut. Had a $400 hydraulic fitting split on a crane job once, cost me two whole days and the client almost pulled the contract. Now I keep a whole bin of those little brass fittings in the truck, and I check every single one before we leave the yard, no matter how good the weather looks.
