That $400 drysuit zipper repair kit was a total waste of money for me
Spent $400 on that fancy zipper repair kit for my drysuit last winter, but it tore again on my second dive off the Louisiana coast, so has anyone else just given up and paid for a real pro fix instead?

Read a writeup in Scuba Diving magazine that said those home repair kits only work for tiny pinholes and minor tears, not the kind of stress a zipper gets on a real dive. They tested a few brands and the adhesive just doesn't hold up to saltwater and constant bending. You already dropped serious money on a drysuit, so cutting corners on the zipper seems risky, especially if you dive deep like off Louisiana where a flood means a cold, bad day. Getting a shop to resew it with the proper heavy duty zipper is the only fix that's ever held for me. Next time, maybe check if your suit is still under warranty first because some manufacturers cover this sort of thing.
