Went from a 90 second bottom time to 25 minutes on the same job site in Galveston
Three weeks ago I could barely get anything done on a 40 foot leg inspection before my air was gone, mostly because I was breathing like I was running a race. My supervisor put me on a regulator swap and told me to slow my inhale down to a count of four, and the difference hit me by the second dive. Anyone else have a habit that quietly eats their bottom time without realizing it?
Man, I had the same thing happen but with my mask. For like two years I was sucking air way too fast on every dive and could not figure out why. Turned out my mask strap was a little too tight and I was fighting this low key panic the whole time without even knowing it. A guy on my crew told me to loosen it one notch and just breathe normal, and my bottom time went up by like eight minutes the same week. Funny how the smallest stuff messes with your head down there.
