Client handed me a 10 year old backup drive, guess what happened

Small business owner in Toledo gave me a Seagate from 2015 with their QuickBooks on it. No cloud backup, no mirror, just this one drive. It clicked three times and spun down, I managed to pull the files with a donor PCB but it took 6 hours. Has anyone else seen SMBs this casual about their only copy of the books?
