On-site call turned nightmare, UPS alarm saved the day
Was swapping drives in a server room near Tulsa last Tuesday when the UPS started screaming at 92% load. Turns out the old admin had daisy chained two PSUs onto one circuit, and my new gear pushed it over. I killed the job, called the building electrician, and we ran a dedicated line before touching anything else. Anyone else run into mystery power layouts that should've been flagged on the paperwork?

Pull the breaker labels off the panel and check if they match reality, most of them are lying. I had a site where the label said "server room line A" but it actually fed the break room fridge and a space heater. Also check the panel schedule against the actual amps with a clamp meter if you can, that's the only way to catch the ghost loads nobody wrote down.
