Spent 4 hours chasing a boot loop that was just a loose RAM stick

Old Dell workstation at a client's office wouldn't post, tried new PSU and GPU before I thought to reseat the RAM lol. Has anyone else wasted a whole afternoon on something that simple?

Been there. Bet you triple checked everything else before that.

and i definitely triple checked everything else in the house afterwards, even stuff that couldn't possibly be wrong. checked the toaster three times. checked if the microwave clock was right. it was like my brain just snapped and decided the front door was the real threat. you know how you lock your car, walk away, and then ten seconds later you're not sure if you actually did it? that was me but with the door handle. i must have jiggled it a solid six times before i could walk away.

The car lock thing is a perfect comparison because it's the same exact feeling. You're walking away and your brain just decides to gaslight you into thinking you didn't do the thing you definitely did. The worst part is that triple checking the toaster and microwave doesn't even help with the door anxiety. It's like your mind is just looking for any reason to keep you stuck in that loop. Once that doubt sets in, no amount of jiggling seems to fully shut it off. You just have to force yourself to walk away and hope the feeling fades before you get to the car.
