The thermal paste "pea method" is ruining builds left and right

I work at a shop in Richmond and every week I see someone's CPU running 10 degrees hot because they used way too much paste. How are people still treating it like it's glue for a craft project?

Respectfully push back a little here. I've built maybe 40 machines over the years and the pea method has never caused me a temp issue, so your mileage may vary. Maybe the real problem is people using cheap paste or bad mounting pressure, not the method itself.

Yeah, bad mounting pressure is probably the bigger culprit most of the time. I've had more issues from forgetting to peel the plastic off the cooler base than from the paste pattern.
