Saw a 40 year old warehouse slab in Baltimore that outlasted 3 new pours next door
Was in Baltimore last month visiting my brother and walked past this old textile warehouse. The floor slab out front was poured back in 1983 and barely has a crack in it. Meanwhile the new building next door already has spider cracks all over their 2 year old walk. Got talking to the guy who owns the place and he told me the old finishers used to wet cure for 10 days straight, no shortcuts. They also didn't finish too early, they let it set up right. Made me think about how fast we rush everything now. Anyone else notice old slabs like this holding up better than new work?
