Decided to debunk the moon landing hoax theory at a backyard BBQ in Toledo
So last weekend my neighbor Don starts going on about how the moon landing was faked. I'm no scientist but I got curious and spent like 3 hours that night watching old NASA footage and reading about the Van Allen belts. The radiation thing always gets brought up so I looked into it. Turns out the Apollo missions went through the belts super fast and the spacecraft had shielding. Plus the film negatives from the missions were analyzed by independent labs. I brought all this up to Don with some printouts and he just shrugged and said 'the government can fake anything.' Kinda made me realize some people just want to believe the story no matter what facts you throw at them. Has anyone else actually dug into a conspiracy theory and found it falls apart when you check the sources?

The moon rocks themselves are the big giveaway - if they were faked, every country that got a sample would have found out by now. Real rocks from Apollo have unique oxygen isotopes that match no Earth rock ever tested.
