Watched my GPS reroute me around a flood, then questioned the whole map
I was driving through Columbus last month on a usual route to a job site. My GPS suddenly told me to exit early, no warning about water on the road. I followed it and ended up on a side street that had a police car blocking a dip that was fully under water. The app never showed any hazard flag, just recalculated like it knew something I didn't. That got me thinking about how much we trust algorithms for basic reality, especially with those rerouting features that seem to predict things before they're reported. If a map app can silently route around a flood, what else is it quietly deciding for us. Has anyone else caught their navigation doing something that felt too smart or too convenient? I'm curious if that's just normal traffic data or something worth digging into more.
