A site super's throwaway line about my layout sketches stuck with me
We were going over the framing plan for a 4,200 square foot custom house in Greenville last Tuesday, and the super glanced at my field sketches and said, "You draw these like you expect me to read them twice." Man, that hit. He meant it as a compliment, but I realized I'd been putting way more detail into my drawings than the crew actually needed. I trimmed the clutter, started labeling only the critical dimensions and callouts, and the next set got fewer questions. Has anyone else had a moment where a random comment changed how you do your paperwork?

Ha! I gotta push back on this one, man. That super's comment was probably the worst advice you could've taken. Field crews skim drawings, sure, but the stuff they skip is exactly what ends up biting you later. The extra detail isnt for them, it's for the inspector, the homeowner, or the guy who has to fix something in three years. I've seen way more problems from missing info than from too much of it. Trim the fat on your own time, but dont let one throwaway line make you dumb down your own record of what was built. If they have to read it twice, maybe they should be reading closer.
