Just realized the big difference between paper submittals and digital ones on site

Last month I ran a job in Austin where the GC wanted everything on paper still. We had 40 submittals going back and forth and I spent half my week just tracking revisions and marking up prints. Then I switched to a digital system for a smaller project in San Antonio. I could pull up the latest RFI on my phone in 2 minutes instead of flipping through 3 binders. Anyone else find that digital saves more than just paper money?

Actually, digital often means MORE paper somehow, not less.

Lol the scanner trick is the only way I've stayed sane with this. Got a Fujitsu one years ago and now I just tell myself "scan it and toss it" or that stack never shrinks. Naming files by date first changed everything for me too.

Oh man, preach. I finally went full paperless at home and now my desk has three different stacks of "I just need to print this one thing" that have been sitting there for two months. The trick that actually worked for me was getting a proper document scanner and naming files like "2024-04-tax-stuff" so I can actually find them later. But yeah, somehow the digital filing cabinet is just as cluttered as the real one was.
