Bought a $22 pork shoulder on a whim, got 9 meals out of it
I grabbed a 7 pound pork shoulder at the grocery store on Saturday because it was marked down to $22, and I figured worst case I'd eat pork for a few days. Threw it in the slow cooker with a jar of salsa and some cumin, let it go while I ran errands, and by Sunday night I had a huge container of shredded meat. I've done tacos, quesadillas, and a weird but good bowl with rice and black beans, and I still have two containers in the freezer. Nine meals for 22 bucks works out to under $2.50 a serving, which beats anything I'd get grabbing lunch out. The only downside is I'm a little tired of cumin at this point. What's your go to cheap cut for batch cooking when you want maximum meals for minimum cash?
