After 6 months, my balayage finally looks like I meant it
I've been doing my own balayage at home since March because salon prices here in Tucson are nuts. First two attempts came out looking like stripes, not highlights. Yesterday I did my third try and the grow-out finally blends instead of looking like a mistake. Turns out the trick was using a finer teasing brush and leaving the lightener on the ends longer than the mid-sections. Anyone else have a color technique that took way too many tries to figure out?
... my friend Karen went through the exact same thing with her roots. She kept getting this harsh line at the top no matter what she did, and then one day she realized she was holding the brush at the wrong angle the whole time. Swore by it after that, like it was some big secret.
