I called balayage a scam for 3 years, then a client in Boise sat in my chair and proved me wrong
I always told younger stylists that balayage was just a lazy excuse to skip foils, and I turned down any client who asked for it. Then a woman named Dana came in about 6 weeks ago, showed me a pic of her natural grow out from 8 months of hand painting, and the blend was so soft I could not find one hard line. She told me she drove 2 hours from Boise to see me, which honestly made me feel like a jerk. I booked a class in Portland the next month for $450 and my foil clients are now getting easier grows too. Any of you fight a technique for a long time before one person changed your mind?
Man, is a $450 class really worth it just because one person drove 2 hours? I get that the grow out looked good, but that could just be her hair type or how fast it grows. Some people would get fuzzy roots in 6 weeks no matter what you paint on there. And saying your foil clients are suddenly getting easier grows now feels like a stretch, that sounds like a sales pitch for the class. Sounds like you got talked into something over one nice story.
