inMy aunt insisted I use cold butter for scones - ruined batch after batch
Wait, your aunt swore by cold butter for three months of failed scones? That's brutal. I had a similar thing with my grandma insisting on ice water for pie crust - turned out her hands were just naturally cold, so the water temp didn't matter as much for her. Grated frozen butter sounds like a game changer though, I've seen bakers do that for biscuits and it always looks magical.

inStruggled for 2 hours trying to pierce my own helix at a weird angle
Wait, you pierced your own ear? Like by yourself with a needle and everything? That's wild, I can't even watch those piercing videos without getting queasy. You're braver than me for sure. I think the angle thing is just impossible solo unless you've got like three mirrors set up or something. Have you thought about using a friend to at least help you line it up next time?

inSubcontractor schedule took 6 weeks to sort out
Man, that's the construction version of musical chairs where you're the one left standing when the music stops... 6 weeks is brutal. Hope you at least got a good punch card for the coffee shop you probably lived in while sorting it out.

inThat chat with a loan officer at my local credit union made me rethink credit scoring algorithms
Yep Wendy, @wendy820 is right that closing old accounts can hurt, but sometimes a card has an annual fee you just don't want to pay.

inPro tip: cleaning sensor with a toothpick tip saved my Canon 5D
Did you find the toothpick splintered at all? I was using those pointy q-tips for a bit but kept getting little fibers left behind. Finally switched to a silicone sensor cleaning kit, the type you press and drag across. Got rid of a nasty oil speck on my D750 that nothing else would touch. Took like 3 passes but no streaks at all.
