Pro tip: write villains like they're the hero of their own story
I kept getting feedback that my bad guys were just cardboard cutouts. Then I tried a trick from a workshop in Portland: give the villain a goal that makes total sense from their side, even if it's messed up. Use 3 scenes where they explain their logic without irony. Has anyone else tried this, or do you have a better method for making antagonists feel real?
