I let my 12 year old set up our home wifi and the difference after 2 weeks is honestly wild
So my kid set up a guest network for all our smart junk (TV, fridge, that dumb doorbell) separate from the laptops about 3 weeks ago. Before that I was getting weird pop ups on my work laptop like twice a day and now I've had zero. Also figured out the old router had WPS on the whole time, which I guess is like leaving a spare key taped to the door. Anyone else split their network like this or am I the last one to figure it out?
Watched my neighbor do this exact thing last summer after his kid got a smart speaker for Christmas. The kid put all the Alexa and Ring stuff on its own network and suddenly his printer stopped showing up on random people's devices. Turns out his old setup had everything on one big network with the default password still on the printer. He found out because his son was printing memes to the thing from his bedroom for like a week. The funny part is the kid had no idea he was doing anything smart, he just copied a YouTube video about home networks. Sometimes the younger generation just knows stuff we never bothered to learn.
