My bank texted me a link to "verify" my account and I almost clicked it
I sat there for 10 minutes deciding whether to click the link or call the number on the back of my card, went with the call, and sure enough it was a scam, so what's your rule for telling a real bank text from a fake one?
Ten minutes of staring at your phone like it owes you money, that's the real scam here. My rule is simple: if a text wants me to click something about my money, I just assume it's a scam until proven otherwise. Real banks will never rush you with a link, they'd rather you call the number on your card anyway.
