Read that 40% of dating app users never meet a match in person, from a university study last month.

On one hand, that's a lot of wasted time. On the other, maybe it just shows people are more careful now. Which side are you on?

That 40% number is wild but honestly not shocking. I saw a similar stat from Pew Research a while back. Do you think the people who never meet up are just using the apps for validation or something else? Like, is the goal not even dating anymore for a big chunk of users?

Honestly, I wonder if it's just a low-stress way to feel connected without any real risk. Swiping is easy, actual dating is hard work. Maybe the app itself becomes the hobby, like collecting trading cards. Do you think the design pushes people toward that endless browsing loop on purpose?

That 40% feels like the apps are just a weird social game now. Willowg88 is right about the trading card thing, it's like people are just trying to win the match screen, not an actual date. Honestly, the whole point seems to have gotten lost somewhere between the first swipe and the ghosting.
