That one time I found out 40% of profiles on Tinder are married or in relationships

I was scrolling some random study from the Journal of Couple & Relationship Therapy last week and it said like 40% of people on dating apps are already committed. Blew my mind. I matched with a woman in Dallas who seemed perfect until she mentioned her husband was out of town. Has anyone else run into married people on these apps?

That Dallas thing is creepy but not surprising. My buddy caught his girlfriend on Bumble while she was sitting next to him on the couch. She said she was just "looking for friends." Right. People treat relationships like they're on a subscription they forgot to cancel.

Man oh man, it makes total sense when you think about it though. I've noticed the same thing creeping into everyday stuff like couples who post overly perfect vacation photos but you know one of them is always on their phone. It's like people are shopping around even when they've already got a full cart, you know? That Dallas story is wild though, imagine being the husband just chilling while she's out here matching with strangers.

Oh come on, @dixon.james, you're giving people too much credit with that cart analogy. The thing is, some folks don't even have a full cart - they're just pushing an empty one around hoping something catches their eye. I've seen it with my own sister's marriage where she's constantly liking old flames' posts while her husband cooks dinner. That Dallas husband probably knew something was off but didn't want to admit it. Makes you wonder how many people are living in a pretend relationship while their partner is swiping on the side.
