I used to think deepfakes were obvious until my cousin got fooled by one

Last month my cousin sent me a video of our mayor saying he was quitting. I told him it looked fake but he was convinced. It took me 3 hours to find the original footage and prove it was a deepfake using a lip-sync mismatch. The guy had overlaid the mayor's face from a speech last year. Has anyone else had a family member completely buy into one of these?

Oh man, I got fooled by one of my own vacation photos (yes, really).

Marking photos with dates in file names helps me keep track. I set up folders by year and month so old vacation pics don't blend in with new ones. Makes it way harder to accidentally repost something from years ago.

I remember reading that our memories actually rewrite themselves a little bit every time we recall them, so photos from 5 years ago can feel brand new. That must be why I keep thinking my trip to that same beach was last summer when it was actually 2019. Our brains just aren't great at keeping a straight timeline on vacation stuff.
