My nephew's deepfake warning backfired on me at Thanksgiving

My nephew works in IT and last year he warned me that every video online could be fake now, so I spent weeks doubting real news clips and old family footage. Then at Thanksgiving he showed me a hilarious deepfake of our dog playing the piano, and I got so mad thinking it was real that I lectured him about spreading lies. He had to pull up the original backyard video from his phone to prove it, and I felt like such a fool. Now I check every viral clip twice, but I still can't tell what's real half the time. Anyone else have a young relative make them question their own eyes?
