Dug up a deleted AMA from a guy who faked his own death, wild details
Last week I found a cached version of a deleted Reddit AMA from a 2016 poster in Ohio who admitted he staged his own drowning for 4 years before turning himself in. The original thread got nuked within 2 hours, but the Google cache had 87 replies including him describing how he paid $3,400 cash for a bus ticket to Austin and worked under a fake name at a diner the whole time. What got me is one reply where he said the hardest part was watching his mom's missing person Facebook page stay active. I grabbed screenshots before the cache died too, but now I'm wondering if saving that stuff is even okay. Has anyone else pulled a deleted thread from an archive and felt weird about keeping it?

The part about his mom's Facebook page got me too. That's the kinda detail that makes you feel like you're snooping on someone's actual life, not just a deleted thread. But honestly, if the guy turned himself in and the AMA was public before it got nuked, I'd keep the screenshots. History is history, even the messy parts.
