Drop-in injectors cost me $800 and a full weekend, stick with OEM
Picked up a set of reman injectors for my 7.3 off an online parts place for like $800. They looked fine on the bench but three of the six started stuttering under load by the end of the first week. Pulled them again, sent them back, seller blamed my fuel pressure. Ended up buying OEM replacements from the local dealer for almost double that, and they've been flawless for two months now. The time I lost on the swap, plus the tow to a shop when one stuck open, ate up any savings real quick. Lesson learned the hard way: cheap remans are a gamble unless you know the rebuilder personally. Anyone else burned by aftermarket injectors or did I just get a bad batch?
My buddy Dave dropped remans into his 6.0 and by the third week one started chattering like a dying rock crusher on the freeway. He lost a Saturday towing it back and the seller gave him the runaround about fuel filters for two months. He ended up shelling out for factory units too, and now he just tells people to skip the gamble entirely.
