Got my YouTube account suspended for a 3 second clip of a protest in Portland last week
I was uploading a video I filmed at a Portland protest in June showing crowd movement and the algorithm flagged a 3 second section where someone shouted a curse word. Now I'm stuck in appeal limbo with no human to talk to and 400 videos locked up. Has anyone actually gotten their account back through the appeal process or is it just an automated dead end?

Heard from a buddy who runs a commentary channel that scrubbing the audio track entirely before appealing sometimes works even if the video is mostly clean. He had a 10 second clip with some background shouting and got his channel back after stripping all sound and resubmitting. Might be worth trying to reupload a version with the audio muted during that 3 second part.

Damn that sucks, "400 videos locked up" is brutal, I really hope you get your channel back.

400 videos locked up over a 3 second clip is insane, but heres the thing nobody talks about. That algorithm probably flagged it based on keywords in the title or description too, not just the audio. YouTube's bots scan text more than they scan actual footage half the time. I've seen channels get hit for having "protest" in the title even if the video was totally clean. You might need to scrub all your meta data, not just the video content, before you appeal again. And yeah, appeals are mostly automated dead ends unless you know someone who knows someone.
