inTIL a simple change in how I clean shutter blades made a huge difference
A 5/0 spotter from a craft store for shutter tracks? That's wild, I would have snapped that tiny thing in half on the first window. The piper is right about needing a different brush, but I'm using a beat up old 1 inch flat for that kind of work. You must have the steadiest hands ever.

inSerious question, has anyone else spent a full day trying to get a SIM card in Bangkok?
Maybe their printers are just really old.

inUntangled a three-way switch mess in a vintage home
My uncle's house in Toledo had a small electrical fire from a bad splice in a junction box. It wasn't about a smart bulb, it was about the hidden connection failing over time. The problem with ignoring a dead switch is you don't know why it died. That lost connection could be arcing inside the wall right now, creating heat. A smart bulb just covers up the symptom while the real danger keeps building. It's not about chasing ghosts, it's about fixing a known fire hazard.

inJust realized my 'first date at a hardware store' idea actually worked after three failed coffee meetups.
Totally agree. Went bowling once and saw how competitive this guy got over a gutter ball, told me everything. @gray875, you need to try something besides coffee.

inVent: A simple string trick saved me from a bad swing yesterday
That's a slick move. My version of that is usually just yelling "whoa whoa whoa" while everything goes sideways. Saved my bacon more than once, having an extra rope to pull against a crosswind. Used it to walk a compressor through a crowded mechanical room once. Felt like a puppet master, but with less skill.
