Got banned from a gardening forum for saying mulching is overrated in wet climates
Last week I posted about how my hostas rotted out after 3 inches of rain in Seattle, and suggested people skip the bark mulch. Mods nuked it within an hour. The wet soil holds moisture fine, the mulch just traps it. Anyone else get torched for questioning a sacred gardening rule?
Man that sucks, getting banned over mulch is wild. Did they give you a reason or just nuke it with no warning? I get it though, people get real attached to their rules. I grew up in the PNW too and wet climates are a whole different beast. Bark mulch just turns into a soggy sponge that suffocates everything. Hope you find a forum that lets you talk about actual gardening instead of dogma.
Wading into this mess like @drew_jones31 said, I once got kicked off a gardening group for suggesting pine needles as mulch. Guess that was heresy too. Guess I'll just go back to watering my dirt and pretending I know what I'm doing lol.
