My local news page deleted a comment about a city council meeting

So last Tuesday, I was scrolling through the Facebook page for our town's newspaper, The Oakwood Gazette. They had posted a video clip from the latest city council meeting about the new park budget. I left a comment pointing out that the mayor's numbers from last year didn't match the public records I'd seen online. Nothing crazy, just a simple 'Hey, the minutes from the June meeting show a different figure.' I went back an hour later to see if anyone replied, and my comment was just gone. No notification, no explanation. I checked the community guidelines, and I definitely didn't break any rules. It felt like they just didn't want that fact-checking out there. Has anyone else had a local news page or group silently remove totally normal comments?

My apartment complex's Facebook group does this all the time with maintenance complaints. The mods just delete anything that makes management look bad, even if it's true. It feels like a lot of these local pages are just for show now.

That's so frustrating, it really makes you wonder what they're trying to hide. My cousin had the same thing happen on our county's page after she asked about zoning changes. They just wipe stuff with no trace, it's shady. Makes the whole "community news" thing feel pretty fake if they only want the nice comments. Total power trip move for sure.
