Everyone in this sub still using Meta's native analytics is missing half the picture
I cross-referenced my Facebook pixel data with a third-party tracker last week and found a 34% discrepancy in reported conversions. Have any of you actually validated your analytics against a second source or just trust the platform numbers?

Honestly, is a 34% gap that big of a deal though? Like sure, it's worth knowing about but the platform numbers are close enough for most stuff I feel like.

Yeah but close enough for what exactly? If you're making budget decisions based on those numbers then a third being off is a straight up problem.

Close enough for most stuff" is exactly the problem though. Think about it - if you're running Facebook ads and the platform says 5000 impressions but it's actually 6700, that's a 34% difference. That could mean the difference between hitting your ROI target or not. Or imagine you're a local shop tracking foot traffic from an online campaign - you'd literally be making inventory and staffing decisions based on a number that's a third off. It's not about being pedantic, it's about the fact that if you're using this data to justify spending real money, a 34% gap can straight up break your business case.
