Spent $200 on a Facebook ad course that was mostly common sense

Back in 2018 I got suckered into buying this course from some guy who claimed he made $50k a month with Facebook ads. It was $200 and the whole thing could have been summed up on a single page. Most of it was stuff like 'test different audiences' and 'use good images'. I guess I learned that spending money doesn't always mean getting real value. Anyone else paid for a course that was just basic stuff repackaged?

The idea of knowledge instead of actual knowledge" is a good way to put it, but I gotta ask - is it really that serious? You spent two hundred bucks and learned a lesson about hype, which is basically the cost of a nice dinner out somewhere. Seems like the real value there was just figuring out that most internet gurus are just selling confidence, not secrets.

Know what gets me is how nobody talks about the social proof trap. You drop that money and suddenly you're in a private group with 500 other people who all bought the same thing, and everyone's hyping each other up like they're part of some exclusive club. That feeling of being in on something special is what actually hooks you, not the content. It's basically paid peer pressure, you start convincing yourself it was worth it because everyone else is saying the same thing. The real genius is they made you pay for the privilege of fooling yourself.

Drove me crazy how those courses make you think you're getting some secret sauce when it's really just the stuff Facebook tells you for free in their own help center. I remember one module was literally just a 10 minute video on what a pixel is and why you should install it. All that money and I still had to figure out the real hard parts on my own like figuring out why my ad copy was landing flat. The only thing those courses taught me was that some people are really good at selling the idea of knowledge instead of actual knowledge.
