Bought a 40 dollar portable monitor - best impulse buy yet

I was tired of squinting at my laptop screen in cafes in Chiang Mai so I grabbed one of those cheap USB-C monitors off Shopee. Actually set it up on a stack of books and it doubled my screen space for like 30 bucks USD, total game changer for editing docs on the go. Anyone else roll with a dual screen setup while bouncing between coworking spots?

Yeah grab a cheap tablet stand from Lazada, way more stable than books for the monitor.

Bang a cheap tablet stand on a decent monitor and watch it wobble like a drunk giraffe every time you breathe near your desk. Those things are built for iPads and Kindle Fire, not a proper screen that weighs more than a bag of rice. Books are dead stable, you can adjust the angle by sliding them around, and they don't scratch your bezels or have weird rubber feet that leave marks. Plus if you buy a monitor that actually has a halfway decent stand built in, you don't need to jerry-rig anything at all. Stop overcomplicating a problem that fourteen years of elementary school solved with a hardback.

OH come on, you're all missing the REAL issue here. If you put a monitor on a stack of books, you're basically blocking airflow to the vents underneath and cooking your electronics alive. I've seen cheap monitors die in six months because people turned them into little convection ovens. At LEAST put some popsicle sticks or something between the books and the monitor base to let air move through. But honestly, just get a VESA arm from a brand that's not total garbage and mount it to the desk edge. No wobble, no heat death, no elementary school textbook pileup.
