PSA: My email hack started with free cafe Wi-Fi

I logged into my email on public Wi-Fi without a VPN. Hackers accessed my account and sent spam to everyone. Do you protect your connections?

Should've used a VPN, man.

Did you turn on two-factor auth after you got hacked? I had my Instagram taken over from a hotel lobby Wi-Fi once, it was a mess. Now I run a VPN anytime I'm not on my home network. It encrypts everything so snoopers can't see your login details. Also, check your email settings for active sessions and kick out any you don't know. Staying safe online is mostly about good habits.

Honestly, even your phone's hotspot is safer than random cafe wifi.

Ugh, public Wi-Fi is the worst. I learned that lesson the hard way too. Had my bank login sniffed at an airport once, now I never connect without protection.
