TIL my phone's mic was still listening even after I turned off voice assistant

I ran an app called MicDroid last week and it showed my mic was active during a podcast app - turned out it was sending audio snippets to a third-party analytics firm. Has anyone else caught their phone doing stuff like this after you toggled permissions off?

Yeah turning off permissions doesn't stop them, I found out the hard way too.

My buddy's phone still sends location pings even with permissions off... it's just how Android works under the hood. Unless you're doing something really secret, I doubt anyone cares about your location data enough to actually use it.

Drove an hour to meet my buddy only to find out @aaron_mitchell was right, his phone was tracking him the whole time.
