Oh man, totally feel you on this one. I once paid extra for a fancy haircut and still came out looking like I lost a fight with a lawnmower, so maybe I'm the wrong person to ask about value. But honestly, when it comes to anything involving scalpels and your body, I'd rather overpay than feel like I'm on a conveyor belt. I'd trust a $12,000 boob job over a discounted one any day, my luck I'd end up with one pointing north and the other looking for buried treasure.

I used to be solidly in the "vinyl is just hipster nostalgia" camp. Then my buddy brought over his original pressing of DSOTM from 73 and we played it against the 2016 remaster on Tidal. The vinyl had this warmth in the bass that the digital version just flattened out completely. Sold my Spotify subscription two weeks later and found a Pioneer table at Goodwill for 12 bucks.
