Pro tip: Test your bunker's air before you seal it all up
Last month I finished sealing my shelter in the basement, and thought I was done. I sealed the door with that rubber gasket and bolted it shut for a test run. After 45 minutes, my CO2 detector went off like crazy because I forgot to install the manual vent pipe. I had to cut a new 4 inch hole and redo the seal, but now I run a 20 minute air test before I commit to the final caulk. Has anyone else nearly suffocated themselves on a weekend project?

Oh man, my buddy Bob did that exact thing and passed out for ten minutes.

I mean my cousin did that once and ended up snoring on the carpet for like an hour.

Switched to a half glass of water between drinks and it fixed that problem completely. My cousin saw me do it at a barbecue last summer and thought I was crazy but I told him just try it once. He ended up being the only one still standing at midnight while everyone else was spread out on the couches. The trick is you gotta actually sip it slow, not just chug it all at once (which kind of defeats the whole point). It’s annoying having to pee more often but way better than waking up with a dry mouth and a carpet burn on your forehead.
