Broke my desk lamp arm last month, fixed it with a paperclip and superglue

Used to just throw stuff away when it broke, but the hinge on this lamp snapped and I had no cash for a new one. Bent a paperclip into a U-shape, glued it over the crack, and it's held for 3 weeks now. Anyone else tried this kind of fix on plastic parts?

Just my luck a fix like that would snap in a day and leave me with a busted lamp and a mess of glue everywhere. Superglue on plastic usually makes things more brittle in my experience.

Yeah the "makes things more brittle" thing is real, I've had superglue turn a perfectly fine plastic part into something that shatters if you look at it wrong. I switched to using a two-part epoxy on lamp arms and it held up way better, even on an old desk lamp that gets banged around. Takes longer to cure but I'd rather wait an hour than have it snap and make a mess.
